FOUNDER
Somaly Prak-Martins
Somaly Prak-Martins is a transformative leader and advocate who has dedicated over three decades to disrupting cycles of violence and fostering collective healing. A refugee and survivor of the Khmer Rouge Genocides, Somaly immigrated to the United States with her family in January 1981, seeking asylum from a war-torn country. Having lost everything, her family instilled in her the importance of education as a non-negotiable path to rebuilding and thriving.
Despite facing significant barriers as an English learner, Somaly earned a Master of Education in School Administration and became a certified Turnaround Principal in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Georgia. With nearly two decades of experience in education and a robust background in business, she has built a career rooted in creating transformative change.
Through her leadership roles—Executive Director of 2-Thrive LLC (www.2thrive.org), Director of Prevention at the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (www.ricadv.org), and Founder of the nonprofit Healing 2Gether - www.healing2gether.org - Somaly partners with organizations to strategically and authentically build communities and environments that center on humanizing individuals and the collective. Her work focuses on disrupting psychological, systemic, racial, physical, and self-inflicted violence, creating spaces for healing and justice.
Somaly’s work is anchored in love, trauma-informed practices, and restorative approaches that aim to restore individuals and communities while advancing social justice. A strategic leader, trainer, and practitioner, she is committed to fostering resilience and achieving meaningful change by breaking cultural, institutional, and organizational trauma cycles.
Her story and dedication continue to inspire individuals and communities to embrace healing, rebuild connections, and create environments where everyone can thrive.
Is to equip changemakers with actionable restorative practices rooted in trauma-informed approaches. Through cultivating brave spaces that encourage sharing and collective processing, we disrupt systemic trauma and facilitate healing and restoration. By combatting dehumanization and offering identity-conscious support, we challenge the toxic impact of the Isms. Together, we strive to reduce trauma, burnout, turnover, and illness, fostering resilient and healing-centered individuals, leaders, and communities.
Our mission is clear:
Healing 2Gether is an organization that focuses on collective healing. Bringing people and communities together to address health and behavioral impacts derived from trauma rooted in burnout, stress, and violence.
Our vision:
Core Values:
Engage in Restoration and Connection:
Our community of practice - and retreats - transcend mere gatherings; they are transformative spaces dedicated to restorative practice and connection. Here, we embark on our healing journeys together, sharing experiences and finding solace in each other's stories. These retreats serve as beacons of hope, fostering a sense of belonging and unity as we collectively resist from a lens of self-love and community restoration.
Build Capacity for Prioritized Healing:
Equipping ourselves with targeted coaching on burnout, leadership, and positional trauma, we enhance our ability to integrate healing into our daily lives. This capacity-building journey strengthens our ability to navigate challenges effectively, preparing us to advocate for a culture of healing within both our organizations and communities.
Prioritize Our Healing Journey:
Together, we dismantle the barriers of trauma and place healing at the forefront of our priorities. Recognizing its profound significance, we devote the necessary time and effort to our healing process. Rejecting the misconception that healing is a sign of weakness, we embrace it as an act of strength and resilience.
Disrupt the Cycle of Trauma:
Central to this endeavor is our commitment to not projecting our unresolved pain onto others and minimizing harm, ensuring that our collective healing journey is one of empathy, ownership, respect, and growth.
